Dr. Charilaos K. Zaragas - Associate Professor

Dr. Charilaos K. Zaragas is an Associate Professor in the Department of Early Childhood Education at the University of Ioannina, specializing in Motor Education and Learning. He holds undergraduate degrees in Physical Education and Sport Science with a specialization in Classical Athletics, a PhD in Early Childhood Education on mental imagery and reading posture, a Master’s degree in Kinesiology, as well as extended postgraduate training in Psychodrama, Social Therapy, and Systemic Family Therapy. His research focuses on motor development, psychomotor learning, neuromuscular coordination disorders, and educational methodologies in early childhood.

Since 2012, he has served in various academic positions at the University of Ioannina, advancing from Lecturer to Assistant Professor and subsequently to Associate Professor. He has undertaken significant administrative roles, including Chair of the Department of Early Childhood Education (2022–2024), Director of the Master’s Program (2020–2024), and Director of the Laboratory of Motor Expression and Teaching Applications. His teaching extends across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, covering psychomotor development, motor learning, research methodology, and interdisciplinary approaches to education.

Dr. Zaragas has supervised numerous master’s theses and has contributed extensively to departmental committees, academic governance, and program coordination. His earlier career includes long-standing service as a Physical Education teacher in primary and secondary education, as well as leadership roles in Olympic Education programs and coaching positions in judo—reflecting his parallel engagement with applied physical education. His scholarly work includes publications, conference presentations, and editorial contributions in the fields of motor learning, psychomotor education, and educational sciences.
