Dr. Dimitrios Mavridis - Associate Professor
Dr. Dimitrios Mavridis is an Associate Professor in the Department of Primary Education at the University of Ioannina, specializing in Statistics with an emphasis on applications in the Social Sciences. He holds a Bachelor’s degree, a Master’s degree, and a PhD in Statistics from the Athens University of Economics and Business, and completed visiting research work at the London School of Economics. His research focuses on meta-analysis, quantitative evidence synthesis, latent variable models, structural equation modeling, and statistical methodologies for handling missing data and publication bias.
Since 2012, he has served in successive academic positions at the University of Ioannina—initially as Lecturer and subsequently as Assistant Professor before being elected Associate Professor in 2021. His earlier academic career includes appointments and postdoctoral research at the University of Edinburgh, as well as participation in major international research projects in epidemiology, biostatistics, and evidence-based medicine. He has taught extensively at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Greece and abroad, covering statistical modeling, biostatistics, probability, and computational mathematics.
Dr. Mavridis has supervised doctoral and postgraduate theses and has contributed to numerous international conferences as invited speaker, workshop instructor, and organizer of specialized seminars in meta-analysis and evidence synthesis. His publication record includes articles in leading international journals, chapters in scholarly volumes, and collaborative work with major research networks such as Cochrane and international biostatistics consortia. His research has received distinctions, and he has served as principal investigator in European and national projects on comparative effectiveness and methodological advancements in meta-analysis.
