Katerina El Raheb - Assistant Professor<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Katerina El Raheb (PhD) is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Performing and Digital Arts<\/a> at the Fine Arts School – University of Peloponnese in Greece<\/a> in \u201cInformattics Applications in Performing Arts\u201d. She has collaborated as a Human Computer Interaction researcher with the MADgIK<\/a> lab at the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications<\/a> of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens<\/a> (NKUA) and Athena Research and Innovation Center<\/a> since 2009.\u00a0

She works in projects that design and develop technologies for Cultural Heritage, artistic creation, and education with a focus on the human-centric approach and methodologies that consider the embodied, moving, expressive, social multifaceted human needs.\u00a0As a researcher and project manager she worked in several EU and national funded projects related to design and development of digital applications to culture such as <\/span>BRIDGES<\/a>, <\/span>Aria<\/a>, <\/span>Transition to 8<\/a>, <\/span>DERC<\/a>, <\/span>WhoLoDancE<\/a>, <\/span>eCultValue<\/a>, DL.org, e.nventory\u00a0 since 2024 she is Princible Investigator for UoP team\u00a0 as a collaborating institution in the research project <\/span>IMAGINE MOCAP<\/a> with Interactive Media, Cinematography, Games and Interactive Network Environments.) <\/span><\/p>

\u00a0She has published scientific articles and worked as a reviewer in internationally recognized conferences and journals such as JOCCH<\/a> (Journal on Computing and Cultural Heritage),<\/span> MOCO<\/a> (International Conference on Movement Computing and is member of the ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) and special interest groups such as the <\/span>SIGCHI<\/a> and <\/span>ACM-W<\/a>.\u00a0 She is the vice chair of the <\/span>ACM Greek Chapter SIGCHI<\/a> group. She holds a PhD from the <\/span>Department of Informatics and Telecommunications<\/a> (NKUA) on \u201cConceptual and Experiential Dance Languages: Representation and Interaction\u201d, and an MSc. in Advanced Information Systems, from the same department. <\/span><\/p>

She completed her BSc. in Chemical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens<\/a>.\u00a0 She got a professional diploma from <\/span>Niki Kontaxaki dance school<\/a> in 2009, and has collaborated as dance artist with Yelp Dance Co., Periigites, <\/span>\u0397amsa<\/a>, <\/span>Kinitiras Studio – \u039a\u03b9\u03bd\u03b7\u03c4\u03ae\u03c1\u03b1\u03c2<\/a> Artistic Network, and <\/span>Onassis Center<\/a>.\u00a0 With interest in human movement, embodiment, and improvisation, as well as the social and cultural contexts where dance comes from, her practice and research are focused on studying and creating movement vocabularies in physical and digital spaces.<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0Her research domain is Human Computer Interaction and the multidisciplinary domains that combine culture and artistic creation, computer science, and performing arts. As an EMAP\/EMARE<\/a> resident artist she created with Nico Angiuli the video performance \u201c<\/span>Amazon Dance<\/a>\u201d that was presented in Athens, Sofia, Turin and Riga.
